![]() Here is a table below that hopefully clarifies this:Īs seen above there are no letter grades like there are in the United States. So, when I see that percentage and my friends are all saying “That is amazing” you can see where I may be confused due to experiencing 22 years of the US grading system. There are much bigger reasons that the grading systems are different in other countries, as are higher education systems in different countries. At the end of the last week I began to start receiving my grades back from my first assignments. All that being said, they're just numbers that don't always represent understanding and academic potential very accurately no matter where you live. That means not paying for time on material that is too advanced to be of any use to us yet or vastly superfluous to one's educational goals. Remember how expensive college is for Americans and we want value for our educational dollar. It is considered counterproductive to present an amount of material or level of difficulty that most students cannot learn well in the allotted time. The philosophy is that the level of instruction and assessment should be reasonable representations of what the student should mostly be able to understand well in that discipline rather than be highlights of their gaps in understanding. Higher percentages of mastery are deemed necessary to facilitate understanding of more advanced material in upper level classes and/or be able to apply the knowledge in their field. ![]() One could argue that only mastering 45% of the content is inadequate. ** List of all college specific subreddits ** Textbooks: How to find the best LEGAL price Mods retain the right to remove content for any reason if deemed necessary This typically includes anything related to a specific textbook, professor, program, or university.
